ACTIVISM OPPORTUNITIES

From time to time, the chapter learns of events planned by other activist groups on issues with a
moral or church-reform dimension. Some of them that may be of interest to chapter members will be
listed on this page. Generally, they are listed in reverse date order (i.e. those farthest into
the future will be shown near the top of the list). After the main list, there will be two additional
lists: 1) those that occur regularly (e.g. each Sunday; or third Sundays (i.e. the third Sunday of each
month)); and 2) single events that have already taken place (and such archived entries may eventually
be transferred to a separate archives page; watch here for a notice as to when that has been done).
CTA Convention
November 2-4, 2007, in Milwaukee
The annual
national convention
of Call to Action (CTA) will be held in Milwaukee the weekend of
November 2-4, 2007. Among the featured speakers will be Marianne Duddy, former president and
executive director of Dignity/USA and Fr. Paul Ojibway, a presider at chapter Masses from years past.
UCLA: DEBATE ON RELIGION & POLITICS:
Tuesday, May 22, at 8 pm, at Royce Hall
At Royce Hall on the UCLA campus, there will a debate on religion and politics, by two renowned
experts and moderated by renowned syndicated columnist Robert Scheer. For more info, click

THE ROSARY BOWL:
Saturday, May 19, at 6pm to 9 pm
At the Rose Bowl, the Rosary Bowl will be celebrated, featuring praying the rosary for peace -- in

INTERFAITH COMMUNITIES UNITED FOR JUSTICE & PEACE:

CALL TO ACTION (CTA) Conference: Embracing Jesus in a Changing World:
April 13-15 in Sacramento
This is CTA's annual West Coast conference. It will include the following speakers: Matthew Fox (on
living a mature Christianity), Edwina Gateley (on healing the world's despair), Bernard Cooke (on
tradition, as a shift from authority to a dynamic view involving the whole community), and Patty
Hawk (on being called to change the Church through action); and there will be breakout sessions on

CATHOLIC WORKER Stations of the Cross for Peace:
Good Friday, April 6, at 3 pm
The annual Catholic Worker Stations of the Cross for peace will be on Good Friday at 3 pm. Meet in
front of the
Federal Building
(300 N. Los Angeles St.), to join in a prayerful walk to the places of
darkness in our city. The nearest available parking is at Temple and Alameda a few blocks away.
