Dignity/LA 36th Anniversary Dinner (October 15, 2005)

Dignity/USA Executive Director Debra Weill delivers the keynote speach at the 36th annual Anniversary Dinner of Dignity/Los Angeles, held on Saturday, October 15, 2005, at Taix French Resturant in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles. She reviewed the recent activities of Dignity/USA, including highlighting the current status of its on-going project to develop a long-range plan and goals for Dignity/USA for the next five years. She has been the Executive Director of Dignity/USA since early 2005; and she is the first transgender person to be the executive director of a major GLBT organization.
In accordance with its long-standing traditions, the chapter honored persons for their service to the community and the chapter by presenting them with its Archangel Award at its Anniversary Dinner. This year, Archangel Awards were made to to Gabino Cabanilla (left) and Michael Macchiarella (right), each of whom is a long-time member of the chapter and has long served Dignity in a number of capacities. They are long-time partners and plan to move in the near future to the Palm Springs area.
In accordance with tradition, the chapter made grants to some worthy community organizations at its Anniversary Dinner. This year, $1,000 grants were made to the Pasadena AIDS Service Center (at the left, Raoul Martínez, its rep, offers its thanks at the Anniversary Dinner) and Project Angel Food (at the right, John Seiber, its rep, offers its thanks at the Anniversary Dinner).
