He is the Archbishop of North America of the original American Catholic Church and the original
Eucharistic Catholic Church. He founded the Church of the Beloved Disiple in Manhattan (1968-86),
the first major urban apostolic and sacramental work for LGBTQs in New York. He is also the co-
creator of the term "Holy Unions" and celebrated the first one at Blessed Disciple in 1970.
He carried the work of the American Catholic Church to Los Angeles, starting in 2003. He is
active in intercommunication among numerous independent Catholic parishes. He belongs to the
inter-faith LGBT Clergy Association and established the Archbishop John Darcy Noble Center,
a center for spiritual studies focused on individual spiritual growth. He is particularly
interested in the Celtic Church as well as in studies of the Aramaic Jesus, the Historical
Jesus, the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Nag Hammadi, and Buddhist and Sufi writings.
He is assisted in his Los Angeles service by Fr. Adrian R. Ravarour whom he consecrated as
a bishop on September 17, 2006.
