      47th Anniversary Dinner (2016)

In the Fall each year, Dignity/Los Angeles celebrates the anniversary of its founding in 1969, as the very first chapter of Dignity.  In 2016, the Anniversary Dinner for this 47th anniversary was held at Taix Restaurant in the Echo Park area of Los Angeles, California, on Saturday, October 15, 2016.

At the event this year, the guest speaker was The Most Reverend Robert Mary Clement, the Archbishop of North America of the original American Catholic Church and the original Eucharistic Catholic Church. He is shown below in an informal photo, taken at the event. One can read more about him by clicking here to see the page on him from the program booklet for the event, which features a portrait-type photo of him.

At the annual Anniversary Dinner, the chapter customarily honors an individual (or more than one) with its Archangel Award, for long-standing service to this chapter and the LGBTQ community. This year, it awarded no Archangel, as such; but instead, it honored long-time chapter member Fr. Kevin Steen with a commemorative plaque noting the 50 years since his ordination to the priesthood in June 1966. One can read more about him by clicking here to see a page on him from the program booklet for the event, which features a photo of him from the liturgy celebrating that 50-year anniversary of his ordination; and last photo on this page from the event itself is a close-up of the face plate of the commemorative plaque itself.

At the annual Anniversary Dinner, the chapter customarily awards a cash grant to a worthy cause that is related to the chapter's mission. This year the grant was awarded to AIDS Walk Los Angeles, which long-time chapter member Fr. Jim Maier (who is also a long-serving walker in its annual AIDS Walk and a former chapter president) accepted the award on behalf of AIDS Walk Los Angeles, as shown in one of the photos below.

The chapter president Tim Roberts took a leading role in organizing this Anniversary Dinner; and the chapter treasurer Michael Rademacher served as the event emcee. They can be seen in some of the photos below.
